Game Preview
Cowboys fans were bullish heading into their week 5 matchup against the 49ers but they came away with their tail between their legs. San Francisco has scored 30+ points in all of their 5 victories so far, and Sunday night saw them rack up 42 against Dallas. Running back Christian McCaffrey extended his scoring streak to 14 consecutive games with 19 carries for 51 yards and the score. QB Brock Purdy was imperious once again, with 17/24 completions for 252 and 4 touchdowns, three of which went the way of TE George Kittle. With so many weapons on both sides of the football we may be seeing a team primed to go all the way this year.
The Browns were on bye for week 5 but even the extra week’s rest has not helped QB Deshaun Watson. The 28-year-old is still troubled by his shoulder and is expected to miss week 6 altogether. PJ Walker looks set to get the nod under center, ahead of rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson who started in week 4 vs Baltimore. Watson’s loss means a serious downgrade for the receiving corps of the Browns, and they could rely heavily on the running room of Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt as a result.
Prediction
The chances of Cleveland winning would have been slim even with Watson available, without him they are barely perceptible. I expect another week of 30+ points for San Francisco and the Browns will do well to get to double digits here.
