Game Preview
The Raiders win over the Patriots came at a cost on Sunday. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo left the game with a back injury and was taken to hospital for tests. If the 31-year-old fails to take the field in week 7 then either rookie Aidan O’Connell or veteran Brian Hoyer will take his place. Las Vegas edge rusher Maxx Crosby was dominant in the win over New England, and he will hope to ensure that whoever is under center for the Bears this week also sees number 98 in their peripheral constantly.
The Bears are likely to be missing QB Justin Fields for their week 7 matchup after the 24-year-old suffered a dislocated thumb in their loss to the Vikings. Rookie Tyson Bagent is the next man up on the depth chart for Chicago. RB Khalil Herbert remains on the IR but Roschon Johnson is expected to clear concussion protocol in time for this game. D’Onta Foreman and Darrynton Evans will split the backup RB duties behind Johnson.
Prediction
Las Vegas are slight favorites here, although it’s hard to know what to expect when two backup quarterbacks face off. I’m going to side with the Raiders as their defense is getting better and better each week and that may be the winning factor here.
