Team News

The New York Islanders continue to have a slender advantage in their race for a playoff berth this term. They currently sit eighth, but they are just a point above the Pittsburgh Penguins, who sit in ninth. The Islanders come into this game after suffering a recent defeat, but they have still won five of their last ten.

Their home form could be the big factor in their advantage coming into this game, as they boast a record of 24-13-3 at UBS Arena. That includes victories in each of their previous three with home advantage.

There will be no dream run into the playoffs this season for the Montreal Canadiens, as they sit toward the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. They have gone just 31-43-6 this term, with six regulation defeats having been suffered in their last ten. The Habs have also gone 14-23-3 on their travels this term.

Montreal was well beaten in their previous game on the road, as they were hammered by the Toronto Maple Leafs last weekend. Things donโ€™t get much easier in their final two regulation game, as they end the campaign against the Boston Bruins on Thursday.

This is a must-win game for the Islanders if they are to finish in a playoff spot. There is nothing to suggest that they will struggle on Wednesday evening, and we expect them to win well against the Habs.
