Fierce Texan rivals collide in the MLS this weekend, as Copa Tejas will see Austin FC and FC Dallas collide. It will be a popular betting event with the best soccer betting sites, especially following an excellent return to form during the Leagues Cup by the hosts.
Austin upset the odds to reach the knockout stage of the competition, winning all three of their matches, including back-to-back wins in regulation time. However, a return to winning ways in the MLS will need to come this weekend, as they have lost five of their previous six, including back-to-back defeats in their previous two.
Myrto Uzuni will be the star man for Austin, having scored four in three Leagues Cup appearances. The striker has been in excellent form throughout the campaign, netting ten in all competitions and registering a shot conversion of 16%.
There was no such success for FC Dallas in the Leagues Cup, as they crashed out in the opening round following a damaging MD3 loss against Toluca. Prior to that defeat, Dallas had looked strong, recording back-to-back wins without conceding against Queretaro and Guadalajara.
Dallas will also need to show character this weekend following a miserable run of MLS form since the World Cup. They have failed to win in their previous three, which includes back-to-back games without scoring against San Diego and the LA Galaxy.
Petar Musa will be a leading star if Dallas are to claim maximum points on Sunday, as the Croatian striker has racked up 15 goal involvements in the MLS this season.
Austin FC vs. FC Dallas Predictions
Austin should come into this Texan derby in excellent confidence following a strong Leagues Cup campaign. They have avoided defeat in five of their previous seven against FC Dallas at Q2 Stadium, and that excellent record could make them the value play on Sunday.
