Game Preview

The Timbers had back-to-back road games, playing to a 2-2 draw in Montreal and then losing to Inter in Miami, 2-0. They aren’t playing well on the road, and most of their points were earned at home.

The last two appearances at Providence Park saw the Timbers win 2-1 against the LAFC and 6-0 vs. Sporting Kansas City. Therefore, there’s a huge discrepancy in their performances at home and away.

Right now, the Quakes have 5 straight games without a win. The first two were ties, while the latter three ended in losses. Seattle beat them 3-2, then FC Dallas took three points in San Jose with the same result, and the most recent failure was against the Rapids in Colorado, 2-0.

With the veteran Timo Werner and homegrown midfielder Niko Tsakiris both sidelined, this could be a very difficult task for Bruce Arena and his crew.

Portland Timbers vs. San Jose Earthquakes Head to Head

These two units faced off in a club friendly back in February this year, when Quakes won 3-2. Previously, they’ve met three times in 2025, with two ties and San Jose’s win. One tie was in the US Open Cup, but eventually the Quakes progressed.

Portland Timbers vs. San Jose Earthquakes Predictions

The Timbers have to attack at home. They haven’t got too many options here. The same applies to San Jose, which needs to step up and get back in the race for the top seed in the West. Therefore, we expect to see an open and very explosive matchup with at least three goals on both ends.
