Match Preview

A quiet day in the Premier League on Sunday will see just one fixture take place, as Aston Villa look to land a victory that could see them end the round in the Champions League positions. Villa come into this showdown in excellent recent form, as they have won three of their previous four matches.

However, the Midlands side will be looking for a response on Sunday after they were held to a draw by local rivals Wolves before the international break. But, Villa rank among the highest scorers in the competition at this stage after netting on 19 occasions. But, there remains questions defensively, as they have allowed 12 goals in their opening eight fixtures.

West Ham have also enjoyed a fine start to the new Premier League season, and they could end the weekend in a higher position than their rivals if they are able to pick up maximum points on Sunday. The Hammers have won four of their opening eight matches this term, and have gone two without a win.

They showed their fighting qualities before the international break, as they struck late to pick up a 2-2 draw against Newcastle at the London Stadium. Their record in this fixture could be an interesting trend this weekend, as the Hammers are unbeaten in their last ten league matches against Villa, winning five of the last six.

Aston Villa vs West Ham Prediction

It may be hard to overlook Villa’s start to the season this weekend. However, a chance is taken on the Hammers based on their dominant record in the head-to-head. It could be a worthwhile selection at the prices.
