Game Preview

Bournemouth’s victory over Leeds moved them 10 points clear of the relegation zone and into a position of probable security for the season. Goals from Jefferson Lerma (2), Dominic Solanke, and Antoine Semenyo were enough to ensure another lousy result for Javi Gracia’s men. Leeds parted ways with the Spaniard after the full-time whistle. Cherries’ manager Gary O’Neil has played down talks of safety but three points against Chelsea would rubber-stamp their survival.

Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has now guided his team to six straight defeats. The Stamford Bridge legend’s tactical inabilities were once again at the heart of the discussions post-match. His decision to return Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to the starting lineup was highly scrutinized. The Gabon striker touched the ball only 9 times in the first half, four of those whilst taking kick-offs. Arsenal was out of sight by halftime and Noni Madueke’s 65th-minute strike was more consolation than Chelsea deserved. Lampard is in serious danger of putting the final nail in the coffin of his managerial career if he doesn’t find a way to overcome Bournemouth on Saturday.

Prediction

Chelsea is having a season to forget. There could be more misery for Lampard’s men here against a confident Bournemouth side. On paper, this should be a Chelsea win but with morale low, we think Bournemouth comes away with a massive three points here.
