Match Preview

Brentford had made a bright start to the new Premier League season, but that early season momentum has quickly been sucked away. They come into this return to action following the international break after going five without a victory in the competition. That run of forms leaves them just three points above the relegation places.

The Bees were very unfortunate in their most recent league fixture, as they were narrowly beaten 2-1 at Old Trafford by Man United. Both of the goals for the home side were netted in second-half injury time after Brentford looked on course for a famous win at the Theatre of Dreams.

Burnley will also be looking for a response this weekend, after they quickly dropped back into old habits after suffering defeat just days after ending their wait for a first league win of the season. The Clarets remain in the bottom three places, but a victory this weekend could lift them out of the relegation spots.

A response will be needed by Kompany’s side, as they were routinely beaten before the international break by Chelsea. Burnley more than held their own inside the opening 45 minutes, but they conceded three times in the space of 25 second-half minutes. Defensively, there are still huge questions to answer.

Brentford vs Burnley Prediction

Burnley’s record in this fixture could make for an interesting betting angle this weekend. The Clarets have won three of the last four against the Bees, including a 3-1 win in this exact fixture on a recent visit. Therefore, a huge chance is taken on the visitors on Saturday.
