Our Breeders’ Cup Picks for This Weekend

Future Stars Friday (Oct 30): Race Previews & Best Breeders’ Cup Bets

Future Stars Friday Best Bet: Folsom Blues (Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf)

The draw has created a very interesting dynamic for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, with red-hot favorite Great Barrier Reef drawn in the widest post. However, Folsom Blues still boasts the most interesting profile for the team of Joseph O’Brien and jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle, now back from injury.

The two-year-old has won twice from six career starts, and was a sensational six-length winner of the G1 Vincent O’Brien National Stakes at the Curragh in September. He was only narrowly beaten by Amusingly (runs in the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf) in the G1 Prix Jean Luc Lagadare while carrying more weight than the winner.

Folsom Blues also holds a form line with the best juvenile in Europe, Sun Goddess, finishing within two lengths of the Aidan O’Brien superstar in the G1 Phoenix Stakes. The step up in distance shouldn’t be a concern, with sire Blue Point producing world-class milers such as Irish 2,000 Guineas victor Rosallion and Matron Stakes winner Blue Bolt.

Future Stars Friday Long Shot: Harper’s Corner (Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint)

A long shot that shouldn’t be overlooked comes in the opening race on Future Stars Friday. Libertango drew an inside post, but as a closer, he could run into traffic.

Harper’s Corner is a relatively straightforward type for the Cathal Lynch stable, and the two-year-old will get a weight allowance as a filly taking on the colts. She has run excellent races over longer distances already this season, including a strong second behind Summer Starlet in the G1 Spinaway. She dropped back down to six furlongs last time when being caught at the wire by Brickyard Belle in the G3 Matron.

Front-running tactics will work well at Keeneland this weekend, as the speed will hold up at the Lexington track. She has proven stamina to boot, and if getting away quickly from stall ten, she has the right mix of speed and stamina to take the Juvenile Turf Sprint.

Championships Saturday: Race Previews & Best Breeders’ Cup Bets

Championships Saturday (Oct 31) Best Bet: Forever Young (Breeders’ Cup Classic)

Our best bet for this year’s Breeders’ Cup comes in the big one, as we are very high on the chances of Forever Young going back-to-back. All of the talk this week has been about the Godolphin runners, with Knightsbridge set to line-up alongside Sovereignty. However, that could be to the benefit of the bettors, as Forever Young could end up going off at too big a price.

The five-year-old hasn’t lost outside of Meydan in over two years, and has consistently run to a higher level than any other horse in this field on his American starts. Back in May 2024, he finished a short-head third in the Kentucky Derby, before taking third in the 2024 Classic. He avenged that defeat with a high-quality display 12 months ago, beating Sierra Leone by a half-length.

A straightforward prep run was achieved in the G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup in September, finishing three lengths ahead of Stars And Stripes and eight clear of Baeza, despite clearly needing the run. Sovereignty’s best career win in the G1 Whitney saw Baeza get to within six lengths, which could be damning for the current second favorite. Forever Young is a generational horse, and this weekend, he proves that.

Championships Saturday (Oct 31) Long Shot: Gimme A Nother (Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf)

The best value on Championships Saturday comes in the Filly & Mare Turf. Blue Bolt steps up in distance for the first time, which is a frustration, as I would have really fancied her chances against Notable Speech in the Mile. Precise has been somewhat of an enigma for Aidan O’Brien and is hard to trust.

Therefore, Gimme A Nother looks like outstanding value based on her showings throughout 2026. There is every chance that the six-year-old is only getting better with age, and the Graham Motion runner was last seen winning the G1 E.P. Taylor at Woodbine. The Canadian track has an excellent reputation of producing Breeders’ Cup winners, and there is serious substance to that form.

See The Fire is a multiple-time Group-race winner in Europe, while Venetian Lace and Diamond Rain are proven Group One horses in the United Kingdom and France. Gimme A Nother is better suited to the distance than most in the field, and she presents one of the best value Breeders’ Cup bets of the entire weekend.
