Match Preview
It has been a challenging week off the field for Liverpool over the past seven days. The Reds have been rejected in their approach of Moises Caicedo, while long-term target Romeo Lavia also looks set to join the Brighton midfielder in signing for Chelsea. By chance, the Reds opened their season against the rivals in the transfer market, but there was nothing to separate the two new-look sides.
Liverpool opened the scoring after 18 minutes through Luis Diaz, but they were unable to kick on after that dominant start. Chelsea equalized just before the break, and the Reds looked disjointed throughout the second half. The Reds looked incredibly short in the midfield area, and it’s likely that Jurgen Klopp will be dipping back into the transfer market to address those concerns.

A new era at Bournemouth also got underway with a draw, as the Cherries scored late in the game to take a point off West Ham. Their equalizing effort was scored with just eight minutes remaining, as Dominic Solanke found the back of the net. They were far more possession-based in that opener, but it’s unlikely that they will enjoy as much of the ball at Anfield on Saturday.
Bournemouth landed a 1-0 win in the most recent meeting between the sides, but they have lost on each of their previous four visits to Anfield. That includes a 9-0 defeat when the sides clashed on Merseyside in August 2022. The Cherries have conceded 17 goals in their previous four visits to Liverpool, netting just once.
Liverpool vs Bournemouth Prediction
While questions can be asked of Liverpool’s midfield, their attacking players looked sharp at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Therefore, we expect the Reds to land a first win of the new season in front of their home fans against the Cherries this weekend.
