Group C: Meet The Teams

Brazil

  • Manager: Carlo Ancelotti
  • Odds to Win World Cup: +950
  • Best World Cup Performance: Winners (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, 2002)
  • Key Player: Vinicius Jr

It is remarkable that it has been over 20 years since Brazil last won the World Cup, meaning that it is no surprise that the nation have turned to serial winner Carlo Ancelotti.

However, the progress hasn’t been as quick as many would have hope, with Selecao losing six of their 18 qualifying matches, and looking well short of the quality required earlier this year when losing to France in the U.S. An aging team is a concern, with 36-year-old Neymar’s inclusion arguably more a publicity stunt than for performance reasons.

Casemiro has enjoyed an excellent season with Man United, but midfield looks an area of the field where Brazil are lacking serious quality. Vinicius Jr will need to be at his brilliant best if the South American nation are to have any chance of winning a sixth World Cup.

Morocco

  • Manager: Mohamed Ouahbi
  • Odds to Win World Cup: +6000
  • Best World Cup Performance: Semi-Finals (2022)
  • Key Player: Achraf Hakimi

Morocco were one of the stories of the 2022 World Cup, becoming the first African nation to reach the semi-finals. Confidence has continued to grow after being awarded the AFCON title in 2025 following a controversial final against Senegal.

Their chances this summer will largely revolve around the fitness of Achraf Hakimi, as the world’s best right-back offers so much for the nation, both in attacking and defensive positions. Exciting young forwards are shaping the next generation of Moroccan soccer, with Chemsdine Talbi and Gessime Yassine both coming into this summer’s World Cup following excellent club seasons.

However, there is certainly a sense that they have been over-bet based on the exploits four years ago, and they may lack mobility in the middle of the park to go deep in the competition once again in 2026.

Scotland

  • Manager: Steve Clarke
  • Odds to Win World Cup: +25000
  • Best World Cup Performance: Group Stage (1954, 1958, 1974, 1978, 1982, 1986, 1990, 1998)
  • Key Player: Scott McTominay

Steve Clarke’s Scotland are the wildcard in Group C. The Scots enjoyed an excellent qualifying campaign, winning four of their six fixtures, which included a stunning win to secure qualification at Hampden Park against Denmark last year.

Results since that famous night have been slightly underwhelming, losing without scoring against Japan and the Ivory Coast in March. Scott McTominay will be an integral player in the final third, and his form is solid after registering 13 goal involvements in 33 games for Napoli.

John McGinn’s energy will also be essential, and the Aston Villa star couldn’t be in any better form after starring for the Midlands team in their Europa League success.

Haiti

  • Manager: Sebastien Migne
  • Odds to Win World Cup: +500000
  • Best World Cup Performance: Group Stage (1974)
  • Key Player: Wilson Isidor

Haiti will be making only their second appearance at the FIFA World Cup, but they have been handed a challenging assignment in Group C.

They performed excellently to qualify for the tournament, winning six of their ten matches, and scoring an impressive 20 goals. However, their shortcomings have been found in recent matches, playing out a draw against Iceland and losing against Tunisia. All three teams that they will play in Group C are considerably better than both of those rivals.

Wilson Isidor will likely lead the line after impressing for Sunderland last season, scoring six Premier League goals. However, against talented opponents, Haiti may struggle to create chances.

World Cup 2026 Picks: Who Will Win Group C?

Brazil are heavily favored to win Group C, and while we expect them to come up well short in their bid to win the World Cup, they should comfortably achieve their first target this summer.

Interestingly, Scotland could be the value play to claim second, as their fixtures run in a more favorable way than Morocco’s, as they should beat Haiti, and a draw against Morocco could see them seal second on MD3 against a Brazil side that will likely make huge changes ahead of the knockout round.
