Two pound-for-pound greats will lock horns for the second time in their respective careers in Texas on Friday evening, as Katie Taylor defends her undisputed super lightweight titles against a formidable foe in the form of Amanda Serrano.
It isn’t the first time that the two leading female stars in boxing have collided, with Taylor scoring a controversial win over Serrano at Madison Square Garden in April 2022. However, the challenger on that night believed that she had more to give, and walked out of New York extremely disappointed with the result.
Friday will give her the opportunity to avenge that defeat, and the odds certainly seem to fancy her chances. Serrano has been in excellent form since the defeat in 2022, winning each of her last five bouts, retaining the featherweight titles in the process.

Importantly, she comes into this bout with recent appearances under her belt. Among those was a dominant success against Stevie Morgan in July, beating her rival within the opening two rounds. Her powerful striking ability has already seen her win 31 of her 50 fights via knockout.
Taylor has been the pioneering woman in boxing throughout her career, and is ranked as the pound-for-pound best in the world. The Bray Bomber has won 23 of her 24 professional fights, with her only defeat coming against Chantelle Cameron in May 2023.
She avenged that defeat with a defensive clinic against the same rival in Dublin in November of last year, beating Cameron by majority decision to win the light welterweight titles.
