Fight Preview
One of the greatest heavyweights of the modern era makes his return to the ring in July, as Tyson Fury takes on Mariusz Wach in Thailand. The fight is expected to be a warm-up bout ahead of the Gypsy King’s showdown with fellow British heavyweight Anthony Joshua.
Fury’s achievements in the ring are largely unmatched, as he is a multiple-time world heavyweight champion and was the lineal champion between 2015 and 2016. However, the first two defeats of his professional career in 2024 were suffered against Oleksandr Usyk. A return win followed, scoring a points victory against Arslanbek Makmudov earlier this year.
Mariusz Wach should present an interesting challenge to Fury, as the experienced 46-year-old Polish heavyweight has shared the ring with some of the greats. Wach is a former silver medallist as an amateur, and he unsuccessfully challenged the great Wladimir Klitschko for the heavyweight titles in November 2012.
The Pole has regularly come up short against the very best stars in the heavyweight division, losing convincingly against names such as Jarrell Miller, Dillian Whyte, and Moses Itauma. The size of his challenge is reflected by the fact that he was beaten in the sixth round by Makmudov, who Fury easily controlled earlier this year.
Tyson Fury vs. Mariusz Wach Picks
This should be a straightforward return to the ring for Fury in Thailand at the end of July. We fully expect the Gypsy King to get the win required to set up a money-making showdown with Joshua.
