Event Preview
Competitive golf action is set for Texas this weekend, as the Colonial Country Club hosts the Charles Schwab Challenge. The field will compete across 7,209 yards for their opportunity to win a share of the $9.9 million purse.
Ludvig Aberg has been one of the most consistent players on the Tour this season, and he will likely be a red-hot favorite. The Swede hasn’t been in action since finishing T4 at the PGA Championship, but he has achieved top-ten finishes in six of his last seven starts.
Defending champion Ben Griffin should also be primed for a bold bid in his defense of the Charles Schwab Challenge this weekend. The American has continued to perform at a high level this season, finishing third at the Cadillac Championship and T14 at the PGA Championship.
Sungjae Im and Justin Thomas should also feature this weekend. The former finished T9 in Texas last weekend, and has now finished in the top ten on three starts. Rickie Fowler’s consistency also makes him a contender after finishing in the top ten on three straight starts before the PGA Championship.
Charles Schwab Challenge Picks
A wide open event is set for this weekend. Alex Smalley makes plenty of appeal at the prices. The American finished T2 at the PGA Championship earlier this month, and his consistency is reflected after finishing in the top 25 on his last five appearances.
