Event Preview
One of the most exciting new events on the European Tour will take place this weekend, as the second edition of the SDC Championship will be staged. This event is co-sanctioned by the European and Sunshine Tours, with the field competing for their share of the $1.5 million purse.
This event was played for the first time in 2023, with Matthew Baldwin running out as a dominant winner. The Englishman finished seven shots clear of Adri Arnaus to claim the win by a record seven-shot margin. A total distance of 7,192 yards will be covered once again this weekend at St Francis Links.

Zander Lombard will be among the leading contenders this weekend, as the South African star comes into this event with previous experience at the course. He was also in excellent form recently after finishing just eight shots off the lead when finishing in a tie for 16th at the Qatar Masters.
Ewen Ferguson is an excellent performer around links courses, and he comes into this event in South Africa in fine recent form. He was last in action at last weekend’s Kenya Open, finishing just four shots off the lead when claiming a share of seventh on the leaderboard.
SDC Championship Prediction
A number of players have leading chances this weekend, but a chance is taken on Japanese star Rikuya Hoshino. The 27-year-old won an eighth professional event at the Qatar Masters a few weeks ago, and that momentum could be key this weekend.
