Event Preview
There are few more famous events on the golf schedule than The Open Championship. This competition has been the final major of the season since 2019, and it has been staged annually since 1860. Unlike other majors, it is the only top-level event to be held in the United Kingdom, and it is also the only major to be played on coastal links courses.
This year’s Open Championship will be staged at Royal Troon Golf Club, marking a first return to the course since Henrik Stenson’s victory in 2016. It will be the tenth time that the major has been held at the course, and players will compete across a total distance of 7,190 yards. The field of 158 players will be hoping to win their share of the $17 million purse at the par 71 event.

Scottie Scheffler has been one of the standout players on the PGA Tour this year, and the top-ranked player will be chasing a third overall major, and a second victory following his Masters triumph in 2024. Rory McIlroy is unlikely to be that far away either, but he will need to recover from his U.S. Open heartbreak after blowing a lead in the back nine.
A number of former champions should go well this weekend, as there is certainly value at the current odds for players such as Cameron Smith and Shane Lowry. Collin Morikawa will be a top selection among many bettors this weekend after bouncing back to form in 2024 after finishing in the top five at both the Masters and PGA Championship.
The Open Championship Prediction
Tommy Fleetwood is our top pick this weekend, as the Englishman finally looks to break his wait for a major championship. Fleetwood has an excellent record at The Open, finishing in the top five in two of his previous four, and claiming top ten finishes in all appearances since 2018.
