Event Preview

All eyes will be on North Carolina on the PGA Tour this weekend, as the Truist Championship forms the final event before the start of the PGA Championship. Players will compete across 7,538 yards at the par 71 event, with Rory McIlroy having been the dominant player in the event throughout modern history.

Due to his excellent record, the Masters champion will be a red-hot favorite this weekend. McIlroy will be well-rested, but this weekend’s event could be an opportunity to blow off the cobwebs before the start of the second major. Still, the fact that he is a four-time course winner shouldn’t be underestimated.

Cameron Young has been one of the most consistent players on the PGA Tour this season, winning two big events. Meanwhile, he has finished in the top three on two of his last five starts. Confidence will be high following his win in last weekend’s Cadillac Championship.

Confidence levels are also likely to be very high when it comes to Matt Fitzpatrick. The Englishman has won on his last two starts, and is a three-time winner on the Tour this year. He certainly has a game suited to Quail Hollow, having finished T8 at the PGA Championship at the course in 2025.

Ludvig Aberg and Si Woo Kim should also be respected, as both stars bring excellent recent form into this weekend’s event. Tommy Fleetwood should also thrive at this testing course, having finished in the top 15 on his last three starts at Quail Hollow.

Truist Championship Picks

Sepp Straka’s victory at this event last year came in Philadelphia, but he could be best-placed to record a second straight win. Straka has strong form at Quail Hollow, finishing T8 at this event in 2024. His recent form is also reliable, finishing a very strong T4 at last weekend’s Cadillac Championship.
