Event Preview
All eyes will be on the third major of the season in mid-June, as the 2026 U.S. Open gets underway on June 18. A world-class field will be involved at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York, with the course seeing players covering a total of 7,440 yards.
Scottie Scheffler will once again dominate the betting. However, he could be a slightly vulnerable favorite after failing to get over the line in recent performances. However, the American has finished in the top 15 in each of the last seven majors.
Rory McIlroy should also be respected after building on his Masters success this year with some strong outings. The Northern Irishman finished in the top 15 at the recent Memorial Championship, and was T7 at the PGA Championship last month.
Tommy Fleetwood, Wyndham Clark, and Jon Rahm all bring reliable recent form into the third major of the season and should be respected. Cameron Young should be respected after finishing T3 at The Masters. He was T4 at the U.S. Open 12 months ago. Ludvig Aberg could be the leading European chance after finishing T4 at the PGA Championship.
U.S. Open Picks
Tyrrell Hatton could be an overpriced contender at the U.S. Open. The 34-year-old is in excellent form after recently winning on the LIV calendar, while he was strong on the final day at The Masters earlier in the year. Hatton has a solid record at this year’s U.S. Open course, finishing T6 back in 2018 when it was held in New York.
