Game Preview

Texas had their 4-game winning streak snapped by the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, splitting the 2-game series with them. It’s been a streaky season for the Rangers, with 3 separate win or loss streaks of 4 or more games so far. They’ll need to avoid letting their loss to Arizona turn into another losing streak, holding just a 1-game lead over the Angels in the division. C Jonah Heim (.294 BA) is off to a stellar start.

The Angels have now won 4 games in a row, and 7 of their last 9, climbing close to 1st place in the AL West division. This series against the Rangers gives them the ideal opportunity to claim 1st, with the Astros also knocking on the door behind them. Los Angeles is getting another fantastic season from superstar Shohei Ohtani, who is batting .308 with 7 HRs, and has pitched to a 2.54 ERA, with a 4-0 record and a 0.87 WHIP.

Prediction

The Rangers and Angels have both been playing very well as of late, currently sitting as the top two teams in the AL West division. This series should offer multiple close games, where the biggest advantage will come from the pitching matchup. For this game, the Angels will need to overcome the struggles of Tyler Anderson (5.74 ERA, 1.58 WHIP) to beat Texas’ Dane Dunning (1.77 ERA, 0.84 WHIP). I’ll take the Rangers.
