Fight Preview

Gerald Meerschaert (37-17) is a 37-year-old MMA veteran who’s got a black belt in kickboxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Twenty-nine of his 37 wins happened by submission, which shows just how good a grappler he is.

But is he as good as Reinier de Ridder? The Dutchman too has a BJJ black belt, as well as one in judo. He’s a two-time European silver medalist in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, which happened at the time when he was starting his MMA career.

In the MMA universe, he’s 17-2 with 11 wins by submission. Both of his wins happened to Anatoly Malykhin in title fights in ONE FC. Each time he lost by a knockout.

The second of those happened last March in what was de Ridder’s final fight in ONE FC. Since then, he’s fought once – at UAE Warriors 51 – beating Magomedmurad Khasaev by a TKO.
