Fight Preview
Sean Strickland is famously a nasty trash-talker, but it’s Dricus du Plessis who shook him in the prelude to UFC 297. The South African mocked him for his traumatic childhood, which led to a fight in the stands of T-Mobile Arena during the previous UFC PPV event. Strickland attacked him and kinda beat him up before the crowd separated them.
The whole incident seriously shook Strickland, who broke down in tears while on Theo Von’s podcast. Du Plessis is basically the only fighter who managed to get under his skin but will this impact Stricklan’s performance inside the Octagon?
We think it might. “Tarzan” wants to get his revenge by putting du Plessis to sleep on January 20. The bad news is that Strickland’s strongest weapon – striking – might not work against this guy. The thing is that du Plessis is a fantastic kickboxer who lands more than 6 significant strikes a minute, which is more than any fighter Strickland’s fought so far.
Sean Strickland vs. Dricus du Plessis Prediction
This is going to be a real war with both fighters looking for a finish. Strickland is a tough fighter, but we’re not sure if he’s as skilled as du Plessis.
The South African has so many weapons in his arsenal that we wouldn’t be shocked if he finished Strickland. We might even see “Tarzan” suffer his first-ever loss by submission at UFC 297.
