Fight Preview
Alexandre Pantoja (27-5) is defending his UFC Flyweight title for the second time on May 4. He won it by beating Brandon Moreno, while in his first title defense, he beat Brandon Royval.
He was given a shot at the title after beating Alex Perez by submission, for which he won the Performance of the Night bonus. Before that, he did something similar in his first fight with Royval.
As you can see, this guy has fought the who’s who of the UFC Flyweight Division. The same cannot be said for his next opponent, Steve Erceg (12-1).
The Australian fighter has only fought three fights in the UFC so far. He won all of those, but only one of those three bouts was against a ranked fighter (Matt Schnell).
Alexandre Pantoja vs. Steve Erceg Prediction
Alexandre Pantoja’s nickname is “The Cannibal” and we think he’s going to eat Steve Erceg alive on May 4.
Not only is he a much better fighter than the title challenger, but he’s fighting in front of his own crowd. UFC 301 is taking place at Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, which is Pantoja’s hometown.
