Fight Preview
Luana Carolina is a well-rounded fighter with great stamina and a background in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai, and other martial arts. She’s 9-4 in her professional MMA career, which started in 2015. She lost on her pro debut, then went on to win the next six fights, including one in Dana White’s Contender Series, which earned her a UFC contract.
On her UFC debut, she defeated Priscila Cachoeira, but in her second UFC fight, Ariane Lipski beat her by submission. Then, Carolina beat Poliana Botelho and Loopy Godinez, which recommended her for her first main card fight.
It was UFC Fight Night: Volkov vs. Aspinall in London when she fought Meatball Molly, who beat her by a spectacular spinning back elbow KO. A year after that loss, she lost to Joanne Wood by a split decision, while in her most recent fight, she defeated Ivana Petrovic by unanimous decision.
Now she’s supposed to fight Julija Stoliarenko, a grappling expert who’s looking to improve her recent record. This fighter is 11-7-2 overall, with four of her seven losses happening in her six fights in the UFC.
In each of those losing fights, she got beaten up by her opponents. In the two fights she won in the UFC, she out-grappled her rival, winning by submission each time. So, the big question is, will she be able to out-grapple Carolina, or will the Brazilian fighter beat her up?
Luana Carolina vs. Julija Stoliarenko Prediction
Luana Carolina is one hell of a striker who lands 4.65 significant strikes per minute. That’s almost two times as many as Julija Stoliarenko. Sure, Julija is much better grappling-wise, but Luana knows how to defend.

Her takedown defense is 76%, and she’s only suffered one submission loss in her career (to Ariane Lipski in 2020). That’s good enough for us to back her in her UFC Fight Night 235 fight.
