Fight Preview

Poatan regained his light heavyweight belt after he KOd Ankalaev at UFC 320 in October last year. He lost the title at UFC 313 in March of the same year, but got back to the drawing board to KO the Russian and prove his domination.

Pereira vacated the belt in April this year to battle for the main prize, the heavyweight title. So far, he has 13 bouts, 11 wins, and three defeats, of which 11 triumphs came via KO. Some of his previous victims were Khalil Rountree, Jiri Prochazka twice, Ankalaev twice, Jamahal Hill, Sean Strickland, Jan Blachowicz, and Israel Adesanya.

As for Gane, he has 16 battles, with 13 triumphs, 2 losses, and one no contest. The latter was at UFC 321 when Tom Aspinall accidentally poked Gane’s eye. Previously, Gane was better than Volkov via split decision, and Spivac, whom he KOd.

He fought for the title twice, once against Ngannou and the second time against Jon Jones, losing both times. Unlike Pereira, Gane isn’t a one-punch fighter but more of a tactician who knows how to both hit and wrestle, though he feels more comfortable standing.

Pereira vs. Gane Predictions

It will be interesting to see how Pereira handles a fighter with a longer reach than his, and who also knows how to control the distance with his kicks. On the other hand, Gane is less explosive and kinda static compared to the Brazilian. Solely because of this and Pereira’s incredible punch, we have to take Poatan to win here.
