Denver got a key win at home in Game 5 of this series, taking a 3-2 lead over the Suns. They’ll have an opportunity to close things out in Game 6 on the road, with a home game in Game 7 waiting, just in case. Nikola Jokić continues to dominate Phoenix, racking up 29 points, 13 rebounds, and 12 assists in their Game 5 win. He also made an impact on defense, with 2 blocks and a steal. Jokić will continue to be key.
The Suns came up short in Game 5, taking their 3rd loss of the series on the road. They’ll have to break that streak to win in Game 7, but first need to focus on handling business at home in Game 6. Phoenix struggled a lot on offense in the loss on Tuesday. They continue to have some depth issues, getting 68 of their 102 points from Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and DeAndre Ayton. They’ll aim to change that here.
The home team is now 5-0 in this series, while the road team has failed to win a single game. That makes me feel a lot more confident in taking the Suns here in Game 6, and then eventually the Nuggets in Game 7. There are superstars capable of taking the game over and making it go in either direction, but based on the first five games of the series, I have the home team winning once again. I see the Suns forcing Game 7.
