  • Ohio State surged past Western Kentucky last week, winning 63-10.
  • Notre Dame improved to 4-0 with a 41-17 win over Central Michigan.
  • These two teams last met on September 3, 2022, in a game Ohio State won 21-10.

Week 4 of the college football season is here. Let’s preview the exciting Ohio State vs Notre Dame game.

Preview

Ohio State had no trouble in their Week 3 matchup against Western Kentucky, improving to 3-0 on the season. The Buckeyes have only allowed 20 points on defense through three games, though they also haven’t faced the toughest competition. That changes this week with a top-10 road matchup against Notre Dame. Ohio State has dominated this rivalry in the past, but will still face a tough uphill battle in this game.

Notre Dame improved to 4-0 with their win over Central Michigan. They started the game a bit slow, looking much less dominant than their first three games. It’s possible they were already thinking about this week’s game, but the Fighting Irish still managed to win by a large margin after pulling away in the 2nd half. QB Sam Hartman has been fantastic for Notre Dame, but faces his toughest test of the season so far here.

Prediction

In any other year, I would lean towards picking Ohio State in this matchup. Notre Dame often has a very talented and well-coached team with a mediocre quarterback. That has prevented them from competing with top programs like Ohio State in the past. That is different this season. The Fighting Irish have a very capable QB in Sam Hartman, leading a similarly stacked roster. I like Notre Dame’s chances of winning it.
