History was made in Mexico City, as Kimi Antonelli became the youngest World Champion in Formula 1 history. The Italian shared a picture-perfect podium with multi-time world champions Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, and with the title wrapped up, the pressure is off the 20-year-old for the final four rounds. Mercedes still has work to do, though, with the Constructors’ Championship in its sights at this weekend’s São Paulo Grand Prix.

F1 Race Odds This Weekend: SĂŁo Paulo Grand Prix (BetOnline)
Verstappen’s price has shortened from +138 in Mexico City to +125 this week. That’s the market reacting to his win, which leaves less value in backing him again, and more reason to look further down the board.

This Week’s F1 Preview: São Paulo Grand Prix
What to Expect at Interlagos
One of the most exciting races on the F1 calendar comes to Interlagos this Sunday for the SĂŁo Paulo Grand Prix, still known to many as the Brazilian Grand Prix. The field will cover 190.064 miles over 71 laps.
At around 2,600 feet, Interlagos is nowhere near as high as Mexico City, but the thinner air still trims downforce and cooling, and its bumpy, undulating layout has plenty in common with last weekend’s track. Rain is the big wild card. Weather has disrupted this race many times over the years, and wet races here can turn the order upside down. Verstappen won from 17th on the grid in the rain in 2024.
Verstappen Rolls On as Ferrari Implodes
Max Verstappen won last weekend, and here’s an interesting stat: if the season had started in Canada, he would trail Antonelli by just six points. The Dutchman has won three of the last four races, despite driving what’s arguably the fourth-fastest car on the grid.
In truth, his win in Mexico City was gifted to him by a very public breakdown in trust between Ferrari teammates Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. Hamilton started on pole but was aggressively overtaken by Leclerc on the opening lap, which earned Leclerc a five-second penalty. Hamilton’s radio messages made his frustration clear, and there’ll be clear-the-air talks between the two before Sunday.
The Rest of the Grid
McLaren had another productive weekend, with Lando Norris finishing fifth, although Oscar Piastri had to settle for 13th after a penalty. George Russell endured another miserable weekend, dropping to fourth in the Drivers’ Championship after finishing only sixth.
Racing Bulls continued to pull away in the fight for fifth in the Constructors’ Championship, with Liam Lawson recovering superbly to finish seventh despite ongoing questions about his long-term future with the team.

Our F1 Predictions This Weekend
Ferrari has had the fastest car on the grid for the last three races, and this weekend is a golden opportunity to finally turn that pace into a win. Hamilton has been one of the standout performers of the season; he was on pole in Mexico City before the first-lap drama, and he has won at Interlagos before. Another high-quality weekend from the seven-time world champion could land him a second Grand Prix win for Ferrari, and at +800, he’s the value play on the board. If the rain arrives, that only adds to the chances of an upset.
- Best bet: Lewis Hamilton to win (+800)
Last Race: How Our F1 Prediction Did
For the Mexico City Grand Prix, we backed Max Verstappen at +138, and he delivered, taking the win to extend his run of podium finishes. A $100 bet returned $238. Can we make it two from two at Interlagos?
