Grand Prix Preview
The second of three F1 races to be held in the U.S. this season will come in the form of the United States Grand Prix, held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. This race is largely regarded as one of the best on the F1 calendar, with the field completing a total of 56 laps to make up the 191.634-mile race distance.
All eyes will be on the Italian sensation at COTA, as Kimi Antonelli could win his first Drivers’ Championship. Antonelli will need to extend his advantage over teammate George Russell to at least 125 points, which could be achieved via winning the race and hoping that Russell finishes ninth or lower.
Antonelli finished on the podium for the seventh race in eight in Singapore, but he appeared to lack the race pace to challenge Max Verstappen for the win. The Dutchman has been incredible in the last two rounds, winning on back-to-back starts. Meanwhile, Verstappen has finished on the podium in each of the last five rounds since his opening lap retirement in the Dutch Grand Prix.
Ferrari were unable to take advantage of a strong position on the grid, with Lewis Hamilton finishing sixth overall after deciding to stay out on heavily worn tires. Charles Leclerc finished second, marking his best finish since the Belgian Grand Prix.
McLaren were competitive throughout the weekend, with Lando Norris finishing fourth and Oscar Piastri taking P5. The Racing Bulls were also quick throughout the weekend, with Liam Lawson taking a second straight seventh-place finish. Alpine lost ground in the Constructors’ Championship, with both Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto finishing outside of the points for the third weekend in a row.
United States Grand Prix Picks
Verstappen has been in a league of his own in recent rounds, and COTA will once again be a track that suits the Red Bull. Therefore, we foresee the Dutchman winning the race, with Antonelli settling for second to ensure that his wait for the Drivers’ Championship continues to Mexico City.
