Grand Prix Qualifying Preview

Qualifying is always one of the most exciting sessions of the Formula 1 weekend, and that will once again be the case at this weekend’s United States Grand Prix. The drivers will tackle the 5.513-km track at maximum pace in the hope of setting the fastest time to start on pole in Sunday’s race.

Max Verstappen has been a dominant driver at COTA in recent years, setting the fastest lap in qualifying for the second time in five years last year. The Dutchman’s pace in the second half of the season once again makes him a logical contender, having finished on pole in each of the last two qualifying sessions.

Ferrari also has an excellent record in quali at COTA, finishing with the quickest time in two of the last four seasons. Their one-lap pace has been excellent throughout the season, with Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton both starting in the first three positions at the recent Singapore Grand Prix. Hamilton has also started on the first two rows in each of the last two Grand Prix.

Mercedes is undeniably the standout car in F1 this season, and all eyes will be on Antonelli this weekend, as he bids to become world champion. The Italian hasn’t started on pole since Belgium, but he has finished in the top three in qualifying in the Netherlands, Spain, and Bahrain since then.

United States Grand Prix F1 Qualifying Picks

Verstappen has been in a league of his own in recent weeks, and his one-lap pace around COTA is unquestionable. Therefore, he looks like the logical contender to start on pole for the second straight edition of the United States Grand Prix this Sunday.
