Grand Prix Preview
The relentless action on the Formula 1 schedule continues this weekend, as the Singapore Grand Prix is the third straight race weekend. The field will complete a total distance of 189.727 miles at the Marina Bay Circuit to make up the race distance, covering a total of 62 laps.
A thrilling Bahrain Grand Prix (held in Malaysia) played out last weekend, as rain delay saw the action get underway over an hour after the starting time. Kimi Antonelli ultimately battled through the challenging conditions to take P2, extending his championship advantage to over 80 points following teammate George Russell’s late retirement due to a power unit issue.
However, Max Verstappen was the dominant driver at Sepang, controlling the race from the front, and surviving a late safety car to finish over two seconds clear of Antonelli. It was an important win for the team, marking the first time that Red Bull had won with their own engine. It also maintained Verstappen’s reliable recent form, as he has now finished on the podium in the last three rounds.
Lewis Hamilton was undeniably the star of the day, as the multi-time world champion paid the price for the team’s decision to start on slicks, resulting in him sitting over a minute off the pace in the opening stages despite starting P2. An excellent recovery drive saw Hamilton weave his way through the field, eventually finishing third. Charles Leclerc also recovered well to take P4.
It was another weekend to forget for McLaren, who are now under pressure from Red Bull for third in the Constructors’ Championship following Norris’ P9 finish. Isack Hadjar celebrated his new Red Bull deal with a P6 finish, while there was also a double points finish for the Racing Bulls, with Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad finishing P7 and P10, respectively.
Singapore Grand Prix F1 Betting Picks
The Marina Bay Circuit should play to the strengths of the Mercedes this weekend, with the tight, narrow nature of the track playing to the strengths of cars with a high downforce configuration. Therefore, Kimi Antonelli could be primed to extend his championship advantage, having previously won in Miami and Monaco, which are the tracks most similar in nature to Marina Bay.
