Horseshoe Indianapolis Picks Today
Race 2: 6 Furlong Allowance (Dirt)
Wednesday, November 4 | 2:05 PM ET | FanDuel TV
| PP | Horse | Trainer | Morning Line |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Spirited Anne | L Rivelli | +140 |
| 2 | Jolly Justice | R L Klopp | +1200 |
| 3 | Gio’s Baby Girl | R D Herrell | +1500 |
| 4 | Vortex Express | R D Herrell | +500 |
| 5 | Stanka | R L Klopp | +160 |
| 6 | Yotowin | R Labra | +1000 |
A six-runner allowance for Indiana-bred fillies and mares kicks off our picks, and it looks like a two-horse race on the morning line, with Spirited Anne the 7-5 favorite and Stanka right behind her at 8-5.
Stanka is our best pick of the day for Randy Klopp. The three-year-old filly has run every one of her career starts at Horseshoe Indianapolis, and she’s proven at this level. She broke her maiden here in May with an Equibase Speed Figure of 75, then followed up just 16 days later with an allowance win and a career-best 76.
A couple of tougher runs followed over the summer, including a seventh in the black-type Hoosier Breeders Sophomore Handicap, but she bounced back with a strong second in an allowance here last time out, posting a 72. Back at this level, and getting four pounds from the older Vortex Express and Yotowin, she has every chance to get back in the winner’s circle. With two wins and two seconds from six starts this year, Joseph Ramos has a filly in form.
Pick: Stanka (+160)
Churchill Downs Picks Today
Race 7: 1 1/8 Mile Maiden Special Weight (Turf)
Wednesday, November 4 | 3:55 PM ET | FanDuel TV
| PP | Horse | Trainer | Morning Line |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ur a Collection | L Schultz | +3000 |
| 2 | Massachusetts | S M Asmussen | +1000 |
| 3 | Comprehensive | B A Lynch | +350 |
| 4 | Dark Hope | I R Wilkes | +3000 |
| 5 | Ocelli | D Beckman | +180 |
| 6 | Mayfield | B P Walsh | +500 |
| 7 | Kelz | K G McPeek | +800 |
| 8 | Stormin the Beach | M Lovell | +1200 |
| 9 | Ryu | P A Bauer | +600 |
| 10 | In the Books | V H Oliver | +2000 |
Also eligible: Travertine, Safety Off, Liberty Valance, Wolf Dakota, Veblen and Still Sober. They only draw into the race if there are scratches.
A $120,000 maiden special weight over 1 1/8 miles on the Churchill Downs turf is one of the best races on Wednesday’s card, and it’s where we’re looking for our value pick. Ocelli heads the morning line at 9-5, with Comprehensive next at 7-2.
Massachusetts is the one at a price. He’s 10-1 on the morning line for Steve Asmussen, with Keith Asmussen in the saddle, and that’s a big number for a runner from a barn that’s always dangerous at Churchill Downs. Post 2 is a good draw, too. At 1 1/8 miles on the turf, saving ground around the turns can make all the difference, and he can sit inside and let the race come to him.
In a 10-runner maiden race, a double-digit price on an Asmussen runner with a good post is exactly the kind of value we look for. One thing to watch: if the race is taken off the turf and moved to the main track, it’s worth taking a second look before you bet.
Pick: Massachusetts (+1000)
Race 8: 6 Furlong Claimer (Dirt)
Wednesday, November 4 | 4:25 PM ET | FanDuel TV
| PP | Horse | Morning Line |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Transatlantic | +350 |
| 2 | Stephens Dream | +1500 |
| 3 | Freaks Go | +120 |
| 4 | Lel Ditty | +3000 |
| 5 | Scythia | +500 |
| 6 | Tearin’ Up My Heart | +600 |
| 7 | No Time Left | +800 |
| 8 | In For a Spin | +1000 |
A competitive claiming race follows at Churchill Downs at 4:25 PM ET, with a field of eight fillies and mares heading to post. Freaks Go is the clear favorite on the morning line, but she looks beatable against some experienced rivals.
Transatlantic is the one of most interest, and it’s another Steve Asmussen runner. A return to Churchill Downs should play to the four-year-old’s strengths. She was last seen finishing second at the track with an Equibase Speed Figure of 77, and she had previously run an 82 when narrowly beaten by Rational Theory at this track and distance.
A failed experiment over a mile saw her finish third in August, but back on a fast track at six furlongs, she should be seen in a much better light.
Pick: Transatlantic (+350)
Charles Town Picks Today
Race 6: 1 1/16 Mile Allowance (Dirt)
Wednesday, November 4 | 9:21 PM ET | FanDuel TV
| PP | Horse | Morning Line |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | This Juice B Loose | +600 |
| 2 | Rock Of Ages | +500 |
| 3 | Youthful Energy | +140 |
| 4 | Hurricane Alert | +1500 |
| 5 | Felicias Cinco | +1500 |
| 6 | Swift Waters | +3000 |
| 7 | Gimmethatsugar | +160 |
The standout race at Charles Town on Wednesday night is over 1 1/16 miles on the dirt, with a field of seven heading to post. Gimmethatsugar could be vulnerable from the widest post, and that opens the door for Youthful Energy to continue his hot streak at Charles Town.
The five-year-old was an excellent allowance winner at the track last time out, posting a career-best Equibase Speed Figure of 93.
He’s consistent at this distance, having also finished a close second to today’s rival Gimmethatsugar on a faster track than ideal in September. With conditions in his favor this time, he looks a strong chance to turn that form around.
Pick: Youthful Energy (+140)
Horse Racing Best Bets Today
Here are our other standout bets from today’s US cards.
- The Magic Speed (Parx Racing, Race 6, 2:20 PM ET, +350): Returns from a break in this one-mile maiden claimer after a consistent season. He posted a career-best Equibase Speed Figure of 72 when second at Monmouth in August, and a repeat of that effort from post 2 will put him right in the mix.
- Clean Getaway (Horseshoe Indianapolis, Race 9, 5:47 PM ET, +600): Her main rivals, morning line favorite Indiana Smoke Show (2-1) and Bebecita (9-2), have drawn posts 8 and 7. The Robert Gorham trainee has been in the money in all three starts this season, and was an unlucky third in allowance company at this track last month. She’s a big price from a good post.
- Miss Menetes (Charles Town, Race 7, +180): The 9-5 morning line favorite in this 4 1/2 furlong sprint has been consistent all season, winning three of eight starts and finishing out of the money only three times. She carries top weight of 126 pounds, but she’s already a three-time winner at Charles Town in 2026.
How to Bet on Our Horse Racing Picks
Most betting sites keep horse racing in a dedicated racebook, separate from the main sportsbook. Racing comes with a lot more information than other sports (past performances, track conditions, scratches and odds that move right up to post time), so racebooks are built specifically to give you everything you need to bet the races. The good news is that you don’t need a second account. Your sportsbook login works for the racebook too.
Racebook bonuses also work a little differently. Instead of a one-off welcome bonus, most racebooks offer a rebate, paying back a percentage of what you wager, win or lose, usually credited daily. For anyone betting the races regularly, that adds up quickly.
