Game Preview
Brock Purdy will again orchestrate an explosive 49ers offense anchored by running back Christian McCaffrey, tight end George Kittle, and one newcomer. Veteran WR Mike Evans came from sunny Florida to an even sunnier California in search of another Super Bowl ring.
The 49ers brought one more offensive threat, WR Christian Kirk, who signed a one-year deal and will be of huge use for Purdy. As for the defense, we can’t say that it might look better, as Nick Bosa and Fred Warner still lead the way. After Bosa’s injury lin 2025r, the defense was one of the worst in the league – 31st in sacks, 30th in picks, 32nd in defensive success rate.
Now, the Rams defense is stacked with quality. One of the best defenders ever came from the Browns, Myles Garrett. Another Hall of Famer to be, Aaron Donald, is unretired, and overall, the LAR kept the previous defensive core in one place. So their defense is horrifying for the rivals.
On the other hand, Matt Stafford is back. The reigning NFL MVP, who had 46 touchdown passes last year, will have Puka Nacua back and Davante Adams. Therefore, one of the best offenses last season should keep pounding at the same pace.

San Francisco holds a 79–72–3 advantage in the all-time series. However, the Rams won 4 of the last 5 matchups. In the 2025 season, SF was better in LA, 26-23 OT, but the Rams avenged it in the following meeting at Levi’s Stadium, 42-26.

We are thinking like this. The 49ers defense is fragile, yet their attack is solid. On the other hand, we don’t know whether their offensive coordinator has a solution for Garrett in the first meeting. The reigning NFL DPOY is a massive difference-maker, and the reason we bet on the Rams to win here.
