Match Preview

Real Madrid remain in the hunt for a league and European double this term, and they could be a leading contender for Champions League glory after winning each of their six matches in the group stage. The Spanish side have progressed from eleven of their last 13 matches in the round of 16, and they have reached the last four in each of the last three editions.

Los Blancos also boast an excellent record against German opposition in the Champions League after suffering just one defeat in their last 15. Over that period, they have recorded ten wins. However, their only defeat in their previous 15 was suffered in Leipzig last season.

Leipzig will be playing in the Champions League knockout round for the fourth time this term. However, this will be the first time that they have come up against a non-English opposition. But, they will need to improve defensively after failing to keep a clean sheet in their last 13 home Champions League matches since October 2020.

But, they have been impressive in the final third over the same period, scoring in 19 of their last 20 European matches at the Red Bull Arena. Confidence will be taken from their 3-2 win over Real last term, but they suffered a 2-0 loss in the reverse fixture in the group stage in 2022-23.

RB Leipzig vs Real Madrid Prediction

Jude Bellingham will be absent for Madrid this week, and that would be a concern when it comes to their chances. Therefore, an interesting betting angle could be the draw in Leipzig.
