Match Preview
There are few more intense rivalries in North American soccer than Mexico and the United States. This will be the second straight edition of the tournament that the nations have clashed in the latter stages of the Nations League, with the USA coming out on top in dramatic fashion against Mexico following extra time in the 2021 Nations League final.
The USA are the narrow favorites to claim victory in this week’s semi-final, and they come into this match unbeaten in their previous four. However, they have been held to two draws over that period, which includes a 1-1 draw against Mexico on April 20.

Mexico will be searching for revenge after their defeat in the Nations League final two years ago, and they should come into this match slightly fresher than their opponents. The visitors have played twice in June, landing a 2-0 win over Guatemala on June 7, before playing out an entertaining 2-2 draw against Cameroon in their most recent match over the weekend.
Each of the previous two internationals between these sides have ended in draws, while the USA are unbeaten in five previous meetings with Mexico. Mexico’s most recent win over the United States was achieved away from home in 2019, as they picked up a 3-0 win in an international friendly.
