Game Preview
Two managers under increasing pressure will be in desperate need of a win in the Premier League on Feb 10, as Thomas Frank’s Tottenham host Eddie Howe’s Newcastle.
Frank’s Spurs sit just six points clear of the drop zone after losing three of their last five matches. However, the blame can’t be left solely at the manager’s door, as players have underperformed. Cristian Romero’s red card in the 2-0 defeat against Man United on Saturday was a sign of the frustration at the club.
For the first time during his tenure, Howe is also coming under pressure. The Magpies have lost their last three, which included a damaging 3-2 home loss against Brentford on Saturday.
Newcastle’s away form has been their biggest Achilles heel this term, winning just two of their 15 on the road. However, it should be noted that Tottenham have underperformed in home fixtures, winning just four of their last 26.
Dominic Solanke will be a key player for the home team if they are to bounce back to form. The striker has scored 13 of his last 19 EPL goals in home fixtures, and he has netted in his last three starts against the Magpies.
Tottenham vs. Newcastle Picks
Both of these teams come into this clash in poor form. However, the trends side with the away win. Newcastle have an impressive recent record against Spurs, while Howe has also won six of his nine against Tottenham boss Thomas Frank.
