Match Preview
Eddie Howe has done an excellent job at Newcastle, but the one thing that has eluded the Englishman at St. James’ Park is a piece of silverware. That could be set to change this term, as the Magpies remain in both domestic cup competitions at this stage of the campaign.
In fact, Newcastle come into the third round weekend after an excellent showing against Arsenal in their first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final at the Emirates on Tuesday. It is likely that the Magpies will encounter few issues in booking their spot in the fourth round this weekend.
League Two Bromley are the visitors to Tyneside this weekend. The minnows have won once in their last three, and a return to form will be required this weekend after a poor showing last weekend when losing 4-1 on the road against Crewe Alexandra.

Newcastle and Bromley will be meeting for the first time in a competitive fixture this weekend. It also marks the first time that the Magpies have come up against two new teams in the same season since 1978-79 after beating AFC Wimbledon in the EFL Cup earlier in the campaign.
Bromley will be making their debut appearance in the third round of the FA Cup, and it is also the first time that they are coming up against a top-flight rivals. Newcastle’s record against lower ranked sides should be respected this weekend, as the Magpies have suffered just one defeat in their last 16 matches against teams from the fourth tier and lower.
Newcastle vs. Bromley Picks
This is a good opportunity for Bromley to give a good account of themselves against an elite opposition. However, Newcastle have been far too good in recent weeks to overlook, and we fully expect the hosts to comfortably secure their spot in the fourth round.
