Game Preview
The last time these two met, NYCFC won 2-0 at their home ground, Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. The last time these two met on the Red Bulls’ turf, we saw the visitors win 1-0. In both of those games, NYCFC’s defense did a marvelous job, keeping a clean sheet each time.
It’s not much of a surprise given that The Blues were brilliant defensively throughout the season. They were conceding just 1.20 goals per game on average during the regular season. Only one team from the Eastern Conference had a better defensive average (Philadelphia Union).

This season, their defense is almost equally good, allowing just 1.27 goals per game. What’s got to worry them is that their city rivals have been even better. The Red Bulls conceded 11 goals in the 11 MLS games they’ve played so far in 2023.
However, their offense has been just the opposite. With only seven goals scored so far, they’re the worst team in the Conference.
Red Bulls vs NYCFC Prediction
It’s almost certain that we’re not going to witness many goals in the New York Derby on Saturday. Actually, we wouldn’t be surprised if the game ended in a goalless tie.
