Match Preview
Enzo Maresca has made an excellent start to the Premier League with Chelsea this season. He has surpassed expectations to this point, and the form of the Blues means that they are in the conversation for a Champions League spot. Chelsea come into this round after winning two of their last four matches, beating Leicester 2-1 at the King Power last Saturday.
It has been a testing period for Unai Emery and his Aston Villa side. They have failed to win in their last seven matches across all competitions, and are winless in four in the Premier League. The West Midlands club has dropped to eighth in the standings after a 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace last Saturday.

The recent meetings between the sides haven’t been positive for Chelsea, as they are winless in their last three against the Villa. In fact, the Midlands side has only enjoyed a longer unbeaten sequence against the Blues on one previous occasion. Villa have also won each of their last two away matches against Chelsea.
Chelsea’s home form would be a major concern ahead of this showdown, as just 41% of their points have been won at Stamford Bridge. That is the lowest ratio of any side in the Premier League so far this season.
But, Villa are winless in their last four, and haven’t endured a five-game wait for a victory since between May and August 2022. However, Emery’s side looked somewhere near their best once again in midweek after playing out a hard-earned 0-0 draw against Juventus.
Chelsea vs. Aston Villa Picks
Chelsea’s home record would be a major concern this weekend, especially against a Villa side that have been strong on the road across the last two seasons. Therefore, we believe a draw could be an interesting betting angle at Stamford Bridge.
