Arsenal’s dreams of a first Premier League title since 2004 hang in the balance, as they must win all remaining fixtures and hope Manchester City slips up. The Gunners have buckled under the pressure in recent weeks, as they come into this home fixture against Chelsea having failed to win their previous four. They also suffered a fourth defeat of the season in their previous fixture against City.
Interestingly, despite sitting second in the standings, only Southampton have kept fewer clean sheets in the Premier League this season. But, the Gunners have failed to score in just one of their 16 matches at the Emirates this term. Arsenal will be looking to win three straight matches against Chelsea since 2004, while they have never lost a midweek fixture against the Blues.

This is a season that Chelsea are already hoping will come to an end. It has been an embarrassing campaign for the Blues, as they appear on course to finish outside the top half of the standings. They could even drop further down the standings over the next couple of rounds, as the Blues are within striking distance of Bournemouth and Wolves.
Frank Lampard is yet to pick up a win in all competitions since returning to the club, with Chelsea having lost each of their previous three in the Premier League. However, the Blues did land a victory in this exact fixture last season, but they haven’t won back-to-back games away from home against the Gunners since 2009. Chelsea has also lost four of their last five against the Gunners.

This is a huge match for Arsenal in the context of their race for the title. The Gunners boast an excellent record against the Blues, but defensive mishaps in recent weeks do present questions. However, we still expect the Gunners to come through this test, but we’d be surprised if both teams don’t find the net.
