Match Preview
Brighton and Liverpool have both made excellent starts to the new Premier League season, but there will be pressure on both to respond after recent defeats on Sunday. The Seagulls suffered a heavy defeat on the road against Aston Villa last weekend, and they will be looking to avoid suffering a third defeat in six matches.
However, they have won five of their seven matches at the start of the season. But, their 6-1 defeat at Villa Park was a concerning result for the Seagulls, which also marked the first time that they had conceded six or more goals since a defeat against West Ham in April 2012. Brighton haven’t lost consecutive Premier League matches since last October.

Liverpool controversially lost to Tottenham last weekend. In the match, the Reds were reduced to nine men, and saw a perfectly legal Luis Diaz goal disallowed for offside. The Reds have a poor recent record in this fixture, as they have won just once against the Seagulls across the previous three seasons. Brighton also landed a 3-0 win in the last clash between these sides in January.
Liverpool saw their 17-match unbeaten run come to an end last weekend against Spurs, but Jurgen Klopp will be keen for his side to begin a new winning sequence this weekend. Liverpool haven’t lost back-to-back games in the competition since suffering losses against Man City and Bournemouth at the start of the year.
Brighton vs Liverpool Prediction
This is a fascinating clash in the Premier League this weekend, and cases can be made for both sides. However, the fact that both sides have bounced back from negative results in a pleasing fashion over the last 12 months means that a draw could be the most likely result on Sunday.
