Event Preview
One of the most exciting tennis events on the schedule gets underway at the end of May, as the race for the Women’s French Open takes place. This Slam is the only event to be staged on the clay, with the iconic Roland Garros playing host to the world’s best players.
Returning champions have an excellent record at the Women’s French Open, with Chris Evert being the most successful player in history after winning seven titles between 1974 and 1986. Iga Swiatek has continued that trend in recent editions, winning three of the last four titles, including each of the previous two. Swiatek could be hard to oppose, as she chases a fifth Grand Slam title.

Aryna Sabalenka is one of few players to have bested Swiatek in a WTA 1000 tournament, and that ranks her among the main dangers at the Women’s French Open this year. Sabalenka has been consistent in the Slams, winning each of the last two Australian Opens, and reaching at least the semi-final stage in eight of the last ten Grand Slams.
Coco Gauff also has an excellent chance after winning her first Grand Slam title when landing victory at the US Open last year. The American also has excellent pedigree on the clay surface after reaching her first major final when losing to Swiatek in the 2022 French Open final.
Women’s French Open Prediction
Swiatek is extremely short in the betting for the Women’s French Open, meaning that it could be worth taking on the top-ranked player. Therefore, we will be taking a chance on the improving Coco Gauff.
