Men’s US Open Winner Contenders

All eyes will be on New York, as the final Men’s Grand Slam of the season gets underway in August. Carlos Alcaraz won the title for the second time in 2025, beating long-time rival Jannik Sinner in a thrilling four-set showdown. However, the Spanish star may be vulnerable this year after pulling out of Wimbledon and various other ATP Tour events due to injury.

In his absence, Sinner has continued to show why he is the world’s top ranked player. The Italian cruised to a second straight title at Wimbledon earlier this summer, beating Alexander Zverev in four sets. However, like Alcaraz, Sinner has also cast doubts over his fitness after pulling out of the Cincinnati Open.

Zverev has always looked like a potential Grand Slam winner in waiting, but his dreams of a second title this year ended in defeat at Wimbledon. His clay-court ability saw him break his maiden at the French Open, but the German hasn’t hit the same levels on hard courts in New York, having failed to reach a semi-final at the U.S. Open since 2021.

Novak Djokovic is always hard to ignore, but at 39, it is easy to argue that his best days may be behind him. The Serbian has still been consistent in Grand Slams, reaching at least the semi-final stage in six of the last seven. However, he is yet to get over the line at a major since winning the U.S. Open title in 2023.

Men’s US Open Winner Pick

With questions surrounding the fitness of the top two in the betting, there could be value in taking on Sinner and Alcaraz when making a Men’s US Open winner pick this year.

Matteo Berrettini is a player that is overpriced, having bounced back to form in 2026 by cracking back into the world’s top 50. His record at the US Open has largely been reliable, reaching the quarterfinals at his peak in 2021 and 2022.

His level of performance at Wimbledon was eye-catching, and if able to get a reliable warm-up tournament run under his belt before the start of the final Grand Slam, he could present value in the betting at +8000.
