What Does ‘First/Last/Anytime Scorer’ Mean in Sports Betting

This is one of the most popular and fun ways to bet on a game. It’s a player prop bet where you’re betting on a specific player to score, not on the outcome of the game itself.
This bet is broken down into three different markets explained below.
1. Anytime Scorer
This is the most straightforward and popular of the three.
- What it means: You are betting that your chosen player will score a touchdown (in football) or a goal (in soccer/hockey) at any point during the game.
- The Catch: It doesn’t matter if they score first, last, or in the middle. As long as they get on the scoreboard, your bet wins. Because this is the easiest one to win, the odds (and payout) are the lowest.
2. First Scorer
This one is all about the “first” score of the game.
- What it means: You are betting that your chosen player will score the very first touchdown or goal of the game (for either team).
- The Catch: If anyone else scores before your player, your bet is lost. Because this is much harder to predict, the odds and potential payout are much, much higher than an “Anytime Scorer” bet.
3. Last Scorer
This is the same idea as “First Scorer,” just for the end of the game.
- What it means: You are betting that your chosen player will score the very last touchdown or goal of the game.
- The Catch: This bet stays live until the final whistle. If your player scores to make it 21-14, but the other team scores a final touchdown to make it 21-21, your bet loses. The odds for this are also very high.
⚠️ A Key Rule (Especially for Football)
This is the most important rule to know: For quarterbacks, a passing touchdown does NOT count.
If you bet on Patrick Mahomes as an “Anytime Scdorer,” he must score a rushing touchdown (by running the ball into the end zone himself) or a receiving touchdown (which is very rare!) for your bet to win.
His touchdown pass to Travis Kelce counts for Kelce, but not for Mahomes.
