By · Updated 3 years ago

Everyone in the world of sports have their highs and their lows. We have put together a list of the best 10 NBA teams in our opinion, helping you see the difference between a team’s top performance and their less fortunate seasons. Today, we take a look at some of the best teams in the history of basketball at all.

1. Los Angeles Lakers

The LA Lakers have had such a rotten time at it lately. With the 2018/2019 season proving another disappointment the downward spiral for the team seems to be persisting. This temporary setback makes us think back of the days when the Lakers completely killed it in the 1999/2000 competition, achieving 67-15 under coach Phil Jackson.

If you were born in the 90s of the 20th century, you will certainly have heard about Kobe Bryant and Shaquielle O’Neal, the duo that reigned supreme that season and took the Lakers to a convincing and well-deserved victory.

2. Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics haven’t lost any of their ability to play well offensively and defensively. The team finished fourth in the Eastern Conference for 2018/19, not too bad of a showing at all, although they succumbed to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Then again, the Celtics have quite the legacy to live up to. It was in the 1964/1965 season that the team went to sweeping everyone in the NBA with 62-18, an important overall score. Training under Red Auerbach, Bill Russel took his team to a well-deserved title, leaving no chance to anyone in the event.

3. Chicago Bulls

Chicago Bulls' team NBA logo

It’s always good to see a team really make headlines the same way as the Chicago Bulls have. Now, their recent performance has been quite good, but the Bulls completely dominated the NBA scene when they pulled off some pretty fantastic records, trained by none other than Phil Jackson, in 1995-1997. For two seasons on end, the Bulls left no chance to competitors.

With 72-10 in 1995/1996 and 69-13 in 1996/1997, Jackson’s players showed themselves worthy. What was the key to their success? Michael Jordan of course, who helped his team score well over 100 points with every showing at the court.

Playing versus the Bulls back in the day meant that you would lose or draw a very tough victory that wasn’t to be repeated.

4. The Philadelphia 76ers

The Philadelphia 76ers were doing alright in 2019, finishing third in the Eastern Conference in 2018/2019. Not quite where you want them to be, but still a very good showing nevertheless. Their best performance came in 1982/1983 when led by Cunningham, the Sixers achieved a brilliant overall stats at 65-17.

5. The Detroit Pistons

We haven’t heard much about The Detroit Pistons of late and that’s probably because the team has been going through some internal restructuring. Performance has suffered as a result, but the team is not without its legacy. The Pistons completely stole the thunder in 1988/89 when they played 63-19 during the regular season and went almost unchallenged in the playoffs with 15-2. Dennis Rodman and Rick Mahorn were key to the success of the team and they definitely deserve to be recognized for the efforts that secured the Pistons the title that year.

6. Golden State Warriors

Golden State Warriors

The GSW have definitely showed their qualities again in 2018/19. With Steven Curry showing what he is capable of when given a chance to raise to the occasion, the GSW had a rough playoffs against the Houston Rockets.

Kevin Durant was out during the decisive games of the event and that certainly gave some people jitters, Plus, he has now left for the Brooklyn Nets where he will be joining Kyrvie Irving. Friendships do dictate transfer decisions.

But this is all about the Warriors who went 67-15 in the regular season in 2014/15 and dominated with 16-5 in the playoffs.

7. San Antonio Spurs

Remember these guys? The San Antonio Spurs are definitely worthy contenders for any NBA title out there, but they only shone in the highly contentious 2013/14 season when the spurs defeated Heat with 4-1 in the final series.

Parker and Duncan completely dominated the court in those decisive moments when the Spurs seemed too close to defeat but would come back for 62-20 in the regular season and follow through with an even stronger playoff season.

8. Cleveland Cavaliers

Each time has its seasons and for the Cleveland Cavaliers, the regular season of 2015/16 was just what they needed to prove themselves. With 57-25 in the regular season, the team definitely fought hard to deserve a place in the playoffs.

It was after that tipping point that the Cavaliers quickly established their dominance winning in 16-5 games. At the time, the team featured LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love who pooled their efforts and ended up defeating the Golden State Warriors who were once again favorites.

9. New York Knicks

The Knicks have had it tough for a while so reminding ourselves of their glorious times back in the day of 1969/70 season is not bad at all. The Knicks went all the way up to 60-22 in the regular season and added another 12-7 in the playoffs.

The Knicks used a defense setup at the time, fielding the talents of Willis Reed, Walt Frazier and Dave DeBusschere who proved an impregnable stopping point for most players in the NBA back in the day.

10. Miami Heat

Miami Heat's NBA logo

Do you remember the 2012/2013 season when Miami Heat went to smooth 66-17 in the regular season and added to their titles. Once again, this was no coincidence as all LeBron James, Dwyane Wayde and Chris Bosh played in this key moment to provide Miami Heat with an unstoppable force of players who would dominate the season.

This concludes our list of the best teams in the NBA. Interestingly, teams such as the Detroit Pistons, the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics have appeared as champions throughout the years. Something that is presently happening to the Golden State Warriors. The new season is on our hands and we can’t wait to see if a new team would make a historic mark on the competition.
