Fight Preview
For the first time since December 2025, Anthony Joshua will be back in the ring. Huge questions will face AJ on his return, most notably his mentality, as this will be his first fight since the tragic crash in Nigeria that saw the deaths of two close friends.
Joshua will need to win in Saudi Arabia to set up the grudge fight against Tyson Fury, but his record against top heavyweights can be questioned. The British fighter suffered back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022, before he was brutally stopped in the fifth-round against Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
A morale boosting win against Jake Paul was achieved in December 2025, but Kristian Prenga is a more serious opponent than the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
Prenga is a knockout specialist, with the Albanian having won 20 of his 21 professional bouts inside the distance. The 35-year-old has been faultless since a shock loss in his fifth fight, bouncing back to win each of his last 16. However, it is worth noting that he has faced nobody of the caliber of Joshua.
His knockout record has continued to impress since the start of 2025, winning each of his last four bouts without being forced into the third round. His power will be the biggest challenge awaiting Joshua, but the Brit’s Ring IQ should see him avoid any potential big shots.
Anthony Joshua vs. Kristian Prenga Picks
The odds are somewhat misleading for this fight, as Prenga presents a very real challenge, and given Joshua’s defeat against Dubois, the Brit could get caught by a devastating punch. However, logic indicates that the former world heavyweight champion should have the quality to overcome this challenge and set up the long-awaited showdown with Fury.
