Fight Preview
Huge boxing action in the heavyweight division will take place at the end of August, as Oleksandr Usyk returns after a year of inactivity. The Ukrainian is the reigning WBO, WBA (Super), and IBF holder, and has looked dominant since moving into the heavyweight division. Usyk will defend his perfect professional record in Poland, and he looks to overcome the mandatory WBA challenger.
Boxing fans had hoped that Usyk would come up against Tyson Fury, but an agreement between the two fighters always seemed challenging to achieve, despite the Ukrainian bowing to all of Fury’s demands. Instead, he will defend his unified titles for the second time against Dubois following back-to-back wins against Anthony Joshua.

There is little doubt that this will be the biggest night of Dubois’s career, as he looks to continue his upward trajectory against one of the best in the world. The 25-year-old has always been revered as one of the brightest stars in British boxing, having won multiple titles as an amateur. After turning professional, he would win British and Commonwealth gold.
His only professional defeat was suffered in dramatic fashion against Joe Joyce in November 2020. However, he bounced back to winning ways by capturing the WBA interim gold via second round stoppage against Bogdan Dinu. That was followed by a first round win over Joe Cusumano, before landing the WBA (regular) title with another knockout win over Trevor Bryan. He warmed up for this date against Usyk with a stunning third-round win over Kevin Lerena in December.
Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois Prediction
I think this is a much harder fight for Usyk than the odds suggest. Dubois has excellent knockout power, having won 18 of his 20 professional bouts via stoppage. His aggressive style will ask slightly different questions of the reigning champion in the heavyweight division, but we expect the titles to stay where they are via decision.
