Event Preview

The F1 action takes place in the United States this weekend, with an exciting Sprint Race set to kick off the proceedings at the Circuit of the Americas on Saturday. The Sprint Race will be run over half the distance of the Grand Prix, with drivers not being required to make a pit stop.

It is the second straight race weekend in which there has been Sprint action, with the Qatar Sprint being won in impressive fashion by Oscar Piastri. The win was the Australianā€™s first success in F1, and the McLaren progression will once again be evident in Texas this weekend.

The Constructor has been in excellent form since the restart, evident from the fact that Lando Norris has finished on the podium in each of the previous three races. McLaren were once again the closest rivals to Red Bull in the Qatar Grand Prix, and a solid weekend in the United States could give them an excellent chance of catching Aston Martin in the race for fourth in the Constructorsā€™ Standings.

Red Bullā€™s aim has already been achieved this term, as Max Verstappenā€™s Driversā€™ Championship and the teamā€™s Constructorsā€™ title have been retained. However, there will be pressure on Sergio Perez this weekend, as the Mexican has struggled since the Italian Grand Prix. A big weekend will be required if he is to finish second in the Driversā€™ standings, while there are rumors that he could be replaced if results donā€™t improve.

Lewis Hamilton is pushing Perez for second in the standings, but his chances werenā€™t aided following a first-lap retirement in Qatar a few weeks ago. Mercedes have struggled in the Sprint Races this term, meaning that their push for points is more likely to come in the Grand Prix itself on Sunday.

United States Sprint Race Prediction

Verstappen looks a solid chance this weekend, but at the prices, it could be well worth taking him on. Lando Norris makes his 100th Grand Prix appearance this weekend, and the pace of the McLaren will make them a very obvious contender over the shorter race distance in the Sprint.
