Event Preview
The bright lights of Sin City welcome Formula 1 for the third straight year on November 22, as the Las Vegas Grand Prix could once again prove crucial in determining the winner of the Drivers’ Championship. The street circuit race is one of the most exciting of the season, with the field completing a total distance of 192.599 miles, which is made up of 50 laps.
All eyes will be on Lando Norris, as the Brit attempts to stretch his advantage at the top of the Drivers’ Championship. Norris has won each of the last two races, and was dominant at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix last time out, winning the race itself and also claiming victory in the Sprint Race.
Norris’ return to winning ways has seen him open up a 24-point advantage at the top of the standings over teammate and one-time leader Oscar Piastri. The Australian’s form has dropped considerably since the summer break, failing to finish on the podium in the last five Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen was undeniably the Driver of the Day in Brazil, recovering to take third despite starting from the pit lane. However, the effort looks to be in vain, as the Dutchman is now 49 points off the lead after finishing third in each of the last two races.
The battle for the Constructors’ Championship also deserves attention in Las Vegas. Ferrari dropped to fourth after suffering a double DNF, while Mercedes were the big winners after Kimi Antonelli and George Russell finished second and fourth, respectively.
Las Vegas Grand Prix Picks
Norris has enjoyed a fine run of results, but his McLaren may not be as suited to the track layout in Las Vegas as Max Verstappen and his Red Bulls. Powered by a new engine, the Dutchman could reignite his feint championship hopes on the streets in Sin City.
