Event Preview

The fascinating action on the F1 schedule comes thick and fast at this late stage of the season, as the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit hosts the Mexico City Grand Prix this Sunday. Drivers will complete 71 laps of the Mexican circuit to make up the 189.738-mile race distance.

A three-way battle for the Drivers’ Championship is taking shape, as Oscar Piastri’s advantage has been wiped out in the last three rounds. The Australian now sits just 14 points clear of teammate Lando Norris, with Max Verstappen sitting 40 points off the pace after wins in three of the last four races.

McLaren’s issues mounted at the United States Grand Prix, as the teammates collided in the Sprint Race, before Piastri could only finish fifth in the Grand Prix. Norris limited the damage after eventually overtaking Charles Leclerc to take second.

However, the end of the season looks like it will be all about the form of Verstappen. The Dutchman holds an excellent record at the Mexico City Grand Prix, and his recent form has seen him claim podium finishes in each of the last five races.

Ferrari also enjoyed a return to form after Leclerc finished third and Lewis Hamilton took fourth. That could prove crucial in their battle for second in the Constructors’ Championship, as Mercedes scored points with only one of their cars in the United States Grand Prix.

Mexico City Grand Prix Picks

Another conventional race track should ensure that Red Bull and Verstappen holds the upper-hand. This weekend is a must-win for the Dutchman, as his car will be perfectly suited to the track in Mexico City. We expect the in-form reigning world champion to emerge as the leading threat to Piastri on Sunday.
