Event Preview
The finishing line in the 2025 Formula 1 season is within sight, as the penultimate stop on the calendar is set for November 30. The Qatar Grand Prix has been staged since 2021, with Max Verstappen winning each of the last two editions.
There will be pressure on the Dutchman to maintain his fine record in the race this weekend, as victories in the Sprint and Grand Prix could see him go for a historic fifth straight championship in Abu Dhabi at the start of next month.
Verstappen’s excellent form will make him a red-hot favorite, and his confidence will be high following a dominant showing in last weekend’s Las Vegas Grand Prix. His championship claims were enhanced in that win, as it was announced after the race that McLaren duo, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, had both been disqualified.
It was arguably a good outcome for Piastri, as he could have ended the day even further behind his teammate. Kimi Antonelli was the big winner following the news, as the Italian claimed third spot on the podium. It was a big scoring weekend for Mercedes, who have now taken a solid hold on second in the Constructors’ Championship.
It was also a big weekend for Williams, as Carlos Sainz finished fifth. Meanwhile, the Haas duo of Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon both scored points for finishing in the top ten places.
